Privacy Policy
According to the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union (CFR) , everyone has the right to the protection of personal data concerning him or her. So yes, clicking on pop-ups all the time because nobody really wants to read all the privacy policy and terms of use could be annoying - but the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) is particularly important for the protection of the personal data of us citizens, and we think it is important to present them to you in the most simple way.
Introduction
The protection of personal data is regulated in particular by the European Directive of 24 October 1995 and Regulation no. 2016/679 (the so-called General Data Protection Regulation or GDPR). Cultural Traces collects and processes information, some of which is qualified as "personal data", i.e. "any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person", according to the GDPR. We attach great importance to the privacy of users - and of citizens in general - which is why the data collected is kept to a minimum.
Cultural Traces is edited by Mathilde Clerbout. It is hosted by Digital Ocean 's European servers (more information about Digital Ocean’s Data Process Agreement) The person responsible for processing your personal data is: Mathilde Clerbout, mathilde.clerbout@gmail.com

Which data are collected and why?
There are two types of data that may be collected: data that you send us directly through the registration form or that you authorize via your browser (geolocation), and data collected automatically for statistical purposes when you visit Cultural Traces via cookies. In both cases, this data is collected according to the legal basis of consent (buttons and checkboxes).
More specifically, Cultural Traces collects:
- Through the registration form: your username and email address. The username and a valid email address allow us to identify and contact you (eventually for legal purposes) and are therefore mandatory. If you refuse to provide this data, registration with Cultural Traces will unfortunately be refused. You can however choose not to accept newsletter-type emails.
- Data relating to your browsing: of the "web analytics" type (duration of your consultation, IP address, type and version of your browser are also collected using cookies, once your consent has been given. Those data are collected by the open source software Matomo , and allows us to measure the audience of our website, to know which pages are consulted and to identify possible errors in order to improve the user experience.

It is also possible to give your geolocation in order to optimise your navigation on the map. These coordinates are not saved, and the acceptance of this service is managed by your browser.
How do we collect the data?
The personal data are collected in a secure environment (SSl protocol) and will be subject to computer processing. Your personal data is anonymised and will only be processed by Cultural Traces and our web hosting provider Digital Ocean.
They are stored within the European Union and will never be transferred to a third party (other than for legal purposes, i.e. to any judicial authority that requests it).
We are personally responsible for their processing and we do everything in our power to guarantee their security. People within Cultural Traces who have access to this type of information are committed to respecting its confidentiality.
Once the account is deleted, the data will also be deleted automatically. However, you have at anytime the right to access, modification and deletion of your personal data (which implies deletion of your account) or your consent to the processing of your data by simply writing an email to culturaltraces@gmail.com.
